Here are the general categories of item break downs:
Disposable Cups
To decide what kind of cup will fit your application, you must first answer these questions:
- Will the beverage I’m serving be hot or cold? The answer can be one, the other, or both.
- Do I want the absolute lowest price per cup, or do I want the best solution?
- Does my product have to be “green”?
Just Hot Beverages or Soups
If all you’re serving are hot beverages, such as coffee or tea, you have the choice of either a paper hot cup, or a foam cup.
Paper Cups –
Paper cups are the more expensive of the two options, although some types of foam cups can be close to or more expensive than standard paper cup. These feel the sturdiest, and can be printed with a custom logo. They have a wide range of lids, ranging from the generic flat lid, to a dome lid with sipping hole. They have a wide range of sizes as well.
The downside to using a Paper Hot Cup is that they are not the best at protecting the consumer’s hands from the heat of the beverage. Often, a java jacket will need to be used, or two cups will need to be stacked together. This can further increase the cost of using paper cups.
Foam Cups –
Standard foam cups are the most economical solution to picking a hot cup. They are better at insulating both the product, keeping it hotter longer, and keeping the consumer’s hands from being scorched. As such, they do not require a java jacket, nor do they require “double cupping”. The only issue with foam cups is that the perceived value of the cup is decreased, in general. Most times, going to a paper hot cup can allow an increase in price without changing the ingredients at all.

16J16 Foam Cup
20J16 Foam Cup
20J20 Foam Cup
Note– the way to understand these codes is the following: the first number represents the number of ounces the glass can hold. The second represents the series lid that fits that cup. So a 12J16 cup is a 12oz foam cup, that can accept any 16-series lid. Therefore, a 16FTL (flat lid) or 16RCL (reclosable) would both work perfectly with this cup.

New Product Alert!
Dart has just released a brand new line of foam cups called Fusion. These cups have a magazine-quality print surface that allows for detailed graphics with top to bottom coverage, better than any other hot cup on the market. They have a molded, rolled lip for the most comfortable drinking lip, and the most secure fit on the lids. The core of these cups maintains the temperature (hot or cold) without disturbing the taste, and keeps the sidewalls cool to the touch. This is one of the most exciting cups to hit the market in a long time.
The cups come in 4 sizes only, 12oz, 16oz, 20oz, and 24oz. All four cups use the same series lid (16 series), and for best results, will be combined with the Award Winning Optima Lid*LINK*.
Unfortunately, the stock print of Fusion cups are out of stock at this time. We can still run custom print cups. If you have a custom order that you would like priced, please send a PDF of the image you would like to print@onestopfs.com. We will contact you to discuss pricing, and get out print samples to your location.
This truly is the best solution to your hot cup needs, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@onestopfs.com and we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. Capitalize now on a new trend before your competitors do!
Soup Cups
There are two types of Soup Cups, either paper or plastic. Paper soup cups are the standard take out soup cups, with vented holes in the lid. They are sold in combo cases, or in bottom- or top-only cases.
The alternative to using paper soup cups is to use a standard plastic Deli Container. Deli containers come in regular grade (good for cold food, bulk soup to go, etc.) and heavy duty (made to support both freezing and very hot foods). Deli containers come in combo packs, or in bottom- or top-only cases. These versatile containers can be used for numerous other applications, which allows one item to have multiple functions. One lid fits all sizes of deli containers.
Just Cold Beverages
When serving cold beverages, one has the option to use either a paper, or a plastic cold cup. There’s one type of paper cold cup, but plastic cold cups come in a few varieties.
Paper Cold Cups
Paper cold cups are generally lined with wax, and are the most economical solution to serving cold beverages. As such, they are the thinnest and lightest, which can prove problematic for heavy cold drinks, or for use in high traffic establishments. They come in a stock print pattern as shown.
Plastic Cold Cups
There are three variations of plastic cups. First, there is a clear, hard plastic cup. Second, is a clear, soft plastic cup. Finally is a translucent, soft plastic cup.
Clear, Hard Plastic Cup – The JC cup is the perfect solution to serving a large number of people without losing the upscale quality of glass. These help reduce labor costs associated with hosting large functions, and reduces water and chemical use in the ware washing stage. Best applications: Upscale outdoor beverage service, large scale high quality catering or banquet service.
Clear, Soft Plastic Cup – TP cups are the perfect platform for custom printing. They are a perfect weight for smoothies and iced coffees, providing a clear look at your beverage. Double your marketing with a logo or matching color scheme. Best applications: Iced beverages, smoothies.
Translucent, Soft Plastic Cup – The PC cups are the most economical solution to using a plastic cold cup. They are ideally suited for use near pools or at other out door functions when the appearance of glass is not required.
Serving Both Hot and Cold Beverages
To serve both hot and cold beverages in the same cup limits your options to foam cups. Not only do they stand up well to cold beverages (not smoothies or yogurts), they also are the best insulator of hot liquids as well.

Pizza Boxes
There are two types of pizza boxes, Ultra Clay, or Corrugated. Ultra clay is a thin, slightly flexible, almost wax-covered material. It is an economical solution, and comes in 4 sizes. Corrugated, on the other hand, is slightly more expensive, but is made of a much thicker cardboard, making it sturdier, and less prone to grease spills.

Disposable Plates
There are a wide range of paper and foam plates to choose from. Each fits into a specific niche, and the benefits of each should be weighed carefully before picking a plate. To best suit your business, you may have to use multiple different types of plates.
Retail Plates
Retail plates are the most economical disposable plate in the industry. Used in pizza establishments the country over, these plates are light weight, affordable, and perfect small, relatively clean use. Pizza establishments use these because they have to use a wax sheet no matter the plate, so using the most affordable makes the most financial sense.

Wax Coated Paper Plates
Waxed coated paper plates provide more grease and spill protection than the retail plates, at an increased premium. They do not provide much structural support, however, and do not make the best plates to serve meals on. They are ideally suited for individual pizza slices (note, wax paper may still need to be used), and snack bar plating. Wax coated paper plates come in 7″ and 9″ wide.

Chinet Paper Plates
Chinet paper plates are made of a much heavier grade paper than almost any other type of disposable plate. They come in 10 and 12″ round, and 12 1/2″ oval platters. These are ideally suited to being served at out door locations where full meals are heavy, messy, or both.

Take Out
There are countless ways to organize the take out portion of one’s operation. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, and finding the proper solution for your business can help gain new customers, and satisfy and retain current customers. If the previous options (Cups, Bags, and Plates) are insufficent, then the following solutions may be applicable.
Round Aluminum Dishes
Aluminum take out containers are an inexpensive and popular way to give customers take out meals. They are frequently used by restaurants, as their convenient size and shape makes them a versatile container, used both for left overs and for full take-out meals.

Lids
There are two types of lids for aluminum take out containers. The first is a flat, aluminum lid. This lid is good because it helps contain messes, and allows more containers to be stacked in a smaller space. The second type of lid is a clear plastic, dome lid. This lid lets the customer view his product before purchase, and helps market the meal as well. More care must be taken to keep the meal neat if a dome lid is to be used, however.

Clam-Shell Containers
“Clam-shell” is the general term used for any container that consists of two equal halves connected together by a hinge. They come in numerous shapes and sizes, and are made out of either plastic or foam. They are perfect for take out salads, sandwiches, or any other large take out meal you can think of. Some of the hinged containers also come in seperate configurations of seperate bottom and top pieces.
Plastic vs. Foam
The difference between the two products is mainly cosmetic. Foam containers are more economical, but are not suited to merchandizing. Instead, foam hinged containers are best used for take out service for customers taking home left overs, or picking up to-go orders. Since these are usually placed in a brown paper or plastic T-shirt bag, there is no opportunity here to market your take out meals. Plastic clam shells, on the other hand, can make great displays in front of the house merchandisers. Using a glass front or open-air merchandiser, plastic containers can help increase impulse buys, as well as show consumers what your meals and products look like. Additionally, using a plastic container often lets you increase the mark up on the same meal if it were in a foam container.
Foam Clam-Shells
Foam clam-shells are a great, inexpensive way to solve the problem of packaging left overs for your clientelle. They are grease resistant, and not prone to spills.

Plastic clam-shells are more expensive than foam, but can pay dividends if used as part of a merchandising display case. Any time your product will be displayed before sale, you are best suited using a plastic container.

Catering Trays
Any time your business caters events, consider using catering trays to make your arrangements. Their circular design and high, clear plastic dome lids, make for an attractive presentation. They also help prevent excess waste by allowing you to set the trays up before hand, and charge a universal price per tray. There are two types of catering tray.
Generic Catering Tray
More affordable and economically priced, these trays serve most applications. However, they do not have the same structural support that other trays have, and very heavy displays can sometimes cause them to buckle. If you are serving large, heavy arrangements, upgrading to the name-brand tray may be your best bet.

WNA-brand Catering Tray
WNA makes high quality, crack resistant, sturdy plastic catering trays. This additional weight and strength comes with an increased price tag, but that will more than earn its keep in any application with heavier displays. If you are unhappy with your current catering trays, or are looking to upgrade from the One Stop generic catering tray, WNA catering trays can be a valuable investment.
